Equivalent trade?

I'd say - it depends. If owner of 14' is tired of large flare prone lens and setting exposure manually, then he will like GSN. If owner of GSN has met situations when automatic shutter speed has puzzled him or given sample calculates speed oddly, then he could benefit from using 14. If both parties are tired by their cameras and want "new camera", it also would work. So it really depends.
Personally I would buy GSN to complement 14. Speaking in terms of monetary value, for me seems that Lynx 14 almost always needs some work on it, fetches bigger coin on ebay and GSN is easier to get. Properly CLAed 14 is "more of camera" than "clean, working GSN" - that's my, and only my, opinion.

A cla'd lynx might sell for more on the auction site, but it's a pretty fair trade as far as camera quality goes if A GSN is what you'd like to use. IF its a good one, you cant go wrong with it.
 
Having used both I find the GSN to be easier with a very sharp lens. Adding a soft release will up shutter to 1/30 easily and compensate for the half stop. A shade easily obtainable for the GSN (Hama Hood). With that said the Lynx 14 is a rarer item and because of its rarity commands a higher price. In summation as a user the GSN is preferable as a shelf trophy the Lynx 14 is the better model.

😀 if both partys are happy then why not ? dont set to much store in rarity and price of each camera go for what pleases you.
 
Both cameras in good working order, similar condition? Just based on value, a CLA'd Lynx 14 is worth more based on scarcity. Preference is up to the individual. A Lynx 14 in "good working order" is up on eBay now, 5 hours left in the auction, there are 10 bidders and the current price is $75. Another seller is asking $150 for this camera in similar condition. There are only a few up on eBay.

There are a couple pages of "GSNs" on eBay, and a seller who has a mint ++ GSN with new light seals has a starting reserve of $24, and is asking $55 to BIN, has no bidders.

Your statements support the conclusions I had started to reach:

1. A working Lynx 14 goes for a good bit more on ebay than a GSN
2. GSNs on ebay are plentiful and sometimes restored to good condition and have the battery 'converter'
3. I would probably come out ahead selling my Lynx on ebay and buying a GSN in a separate transaction and use the difference on a CLA, if needed.

I do have another question about GSN "attributes":

Does the GSN have a 5-bladed aperture like the Lynx for that nice bokeh?

sure it has 5-blade kni....aperture. I thought those nice bokeh's are from more complex apertures 😱 Well, it's not bad, at least for me.

Be prepared for one thing - Lynx has better release button than GSN - shorter and smoother travel. It's subjective opinion, of course.
