Coincidence, I just finished reading Erri de Luca's wonderful novel "Montedidio". The cover photo of my book is by Erich Lessing.

I have his books "Budapest 1956" and "Erich Lessing Reportage Photography 1948 - 1973".

He was a great photographer.

Thanks for posting this. Eva came to my class in 1956 with a map of Hungary on her notebook and 'Nov 1956' written under it. I was so dumb I couldn't understand it. Erich photographed it good for him.
