Alec ,

Thanks for pointing out this link, I've read it and found it remarkable 🙂
Did not know that he is (like me) an independent Business Consultant in IT ,and that he is a co-editor of a photo mag too!

Interesting is that he felt the urge to defense himself publicly at p.net, obviously too many folks who have the same suspect which I have. And say it publicly !

His self-defence tho is adressed to those who still play in the sandbox, and those will be happy again to take it as a confirmation of their own biased opinion. What shall this ridiculous public declaration be good for ? Does he really think we do not know how one can pay somebody without leaving a track ?
Claiming that he , as he says, "would be a stupid a**hole" if he would take money from Leica and thus destroying his own credibility I consider as an offense adressed to my own intelligence.
I mean if I were marketing manager at Leica and EP would not exist I would invent him !! He is the perfect completion of what is called Marketing Mix !

Erwin Puts is a man of public interest, because he worked hard to get one and still works hard to stay a person of public interest. As a person of public interest, who does not spread opinions all over the web but hard facts as he claims, he has to expect to get under suspect if the continuity in his results is like it is and if he spends so much time and money in tests, which earn that name not tho seen from a scientific standpoint.

So for me it is neither amoral no a prove of bad manners to speak about a suspect publicly, which is really provoked by the results and the very doubtful circumstances of their origin.
Those in the sandbox will have another POV, of course, but who cares for their
hypocritical indignation ? Not me. 😛

Regards.

Bertram

Bill, I meant his old website rambled on and on and on and on with long awkward sentences. His new page or site consists of shorter sentences but they still ramble and are awkward. Furthermore, the conclusions are always similar. In German, he would be pegged as a Quatschkopf. 😎

Yes, but this word is a bit too harmless, it does not include the effects of his activities.
For all those who think that all who wear a white coat are doctors his site is opinion forming and we have to assume that this influences strongly buying decisions too
And exactly at this point it's getting serious, and one has to guess of he isn't a Quatschkopf at all probably but somebody who knows very well what for he affords all that testing and website-maintaining effort tho he has two other jobs who eat time.

my opinion of the man is that he is a genuine nice guy. Very cordial and polite

That was my opinion as well, based on meeting him in person.

As for his writing style, i hope folks realize that Erwin is Danish

He's not, he's Dutch, lives in the Netherlands. Almost everyone in that country speaks, reads and writes English extremely well, moreso than in any country where English is not the official language. So Erwin's excellent command of English is not as extraordinary as some people mistakenly believe. But as good as his English is technically, what he probably lacks is a native speaker's sense of nuance and tone. Erwin may not intentionally phrase his writing in a condescending or arrogant tone, meaning only to sound didactic or professorial. There's where I think he deserves to be cut a little slack and given a break.

Wow! That thread was from about 2 years before I even heard of pnet and the same ugly antisocial spewing going on like now. They must have been in a benefecent lull while I was lurking or I'd never have become a subscriber in the first place. I can't believe that Erwin stooped so low as to grace that forum with a reply. If it had been me getting libeled on an internet forum I'd have taken the owners and moderators to court and let them try and prove they're accusations from the defendant's chair.

Thanks for the clarifiaction. I meant Dutch but for some reason typed Danish instead.

I also think you're absolutely right regarding his grasp of the Englsh language. While he knows the words; sentence structure, syntax, phrasing, etc. are something that are not easily learned and this is where he may fall a bit short.

Again, to me, he writes in english better than many people who consider it their main language.
