"The X-Pro 1 is not without shortcomings, but in the area of recording performance does not only challenge the Leica M9, but might even surpass its image quality. The 1.4/35mm lens is unexpectedly good and is capable of challenging the Leica Summilux-M 1.4/50mm ASPH, the reigning champion of high-speed standard lenses for precision miniature cameras. "

I'm not much for pondering MTF curves or pixel peeping but am fond of the OOC jpegs I'm getting from my Xpro-1.
There was a bit of a kerfuffel (imagine that) when DPreview recently did sample raw conversions with a beta Adobe Xpro-1 raw converter.
I'm not concerned as I could live with the jpegs - never thought I'd think that.
Love the form factor of the camera. Have no complaints about the focusing. Use it mainly with the OVF.
For me it is the most fun I've had with photography since I moved from film to digital.

Coming from the perspective of where the large majority of my work is performed using a DSLR or medium/large format film gear, I viewed the M9 as a luxury, rather than a necessity, for my business. Consequently, I patiently squirreled away some of my spare shekels for the eventual purchase of an M9P. I purchased the X-Pro 1 and have been so thoroughly pleased with the form factor and performance of this camera that my plans of purchasing the M9 have been placed on the back burner, perhaps indefinitely. I am looking forward to Fuji's anticipated release of their 14mm lens this fall. If it has the performance of the 35, I will be one happy camper!

I too am in love with the Xpro1.
I was just thinking about that this morning as I was taking macro shots of backlit leaves and last night when I recorded video of my kids talent show. This thing is so versatile in such a nice, light package.

I'd love an M9

There is nothing like the solid, mechanical precision of a Leica.
I'll never be able to afford one. Even if I could I'd hesitate knowing that digital cameras are subject to the obsolescence curve of Moore's law.
The new BW Leica is very cool.
Having said all that I'm real fond of my Xpro-1.
I got and use it mainly for the OVF, the prime lenses, and the overall form factor. I'm coming to understand and appreciate it's versatility.

The 35/1.4 Fujinon is an excellent suprise. I was expecting a great lens based on the performance of the X100's 23/2 lens. But the 35/1.4 greatly exceeded my expectations.
I've only used my M9 once in the month since I've had the X-Pro1... and that was because I felt bad for it.

Ditto. Frankly the XP1 is a much more capable tool and it's handling while more like a Konica Hexar RF then a Leica M is really terrific especially with the accessory grip.

I own neither, so why is this?I've only used my M9 once in the month since I've had the X-Pro1... and that was because I felt bad for it.![]()

As AusDLK stated, it is just much more versatile, while still feeling like a RF style camera in your hand.
