Here is a link to Erwins lastest review of the new Elmarit 28mm f2.8 ASPH.

Pretty much what I was hoping/expecting. I certainly wasn't expecting it to match the 28mm Summicron at f2.8. Most lenses get better one stop down so thats seems fair. Good price, might get myself one.

*note* feel free to agree or disagree with the review by all means but try not let the thread devolve into a Erwin bashing thead, play nice, thanks!

Does anyone think the sample picture is from the M8? I'm not convinced the image looks like film. My first reaction on seeing it was "this looks like video", i.e. digital. No details are provided on the image. Erwin may have tried to jump the gun again.

Regardless, I have the lens on order and am looking forward to using it to say the least. Good to hear there were no red flags raised about a clinical look or harsh bokeh.

You know what- I think you may be right. It is totally without grain. Either digital or Kodachrome 25 (does it still exist?)

In addition, It is very difficult to determine the plane of focus in that shot, indicative of a very smooth bokeh 🙂

You know I am old 🙁 really that shot reminds me of 25- the subdued colours, the gradation- the grainlessness...It must be twenty years since I used that film last.
