EuroMeet 2012 - Istanbul

Managed to book a last minute flight. Arrival: 12th 04:15 Departure: 17th 21:30

I am new here and hope to meet some nice people in Instanbul. The only guy i know is Simon B. from the SIS-Berlin Workshop last year...

Here are the essential questions:

  1. Does the airport x-ray machine destroy film or merely mildly irradiate gonads?
  2. Which lens is best for Istanbul? Will my 12-21-200mm Tri-Elmar do?
  3. What is a camera?
  4. Where do I insert the coin?

PS Andrew, film will be fine. Gonads will be irradiated to the point of uselessness for their intended purpose. However, as a bonus, will grow to the size of small ponies.

The thing is on and I'll be hassling you all at the weekend for email addresses and mobile numbers in case you get your pony sized gonads lost / in jail over there.

Did I read this right that we get an interesting photo tour in a turkish jail? Which lens should I pick for that?

Tom, Saturday morning 4am, quietly getting someone out of a prison cell, you can take photos but might need to keep the guard company for a few hours.

Astonishingly, I have my holiday dates confirmed and have booked flights - unfortunately about 100 euros too late, so far as the price goes.

I'll be there on Friday (13th) in the afternoon and leaving on Wednesday (18th) mid-morning, after a stay in Kully's penthouse (still ok?) and a couple of nights in a hostel - or cardboard box, considering the extra flight cost.

Apparently it is currently warmer and drier in NL than in Istanbul. Very odd.

Tom, post 190, you can get a good idea of the photogenic properties of the environment you mentioned, by watching the tourist film 'Midnight Express'.
;)

Still? Midnight Express? Really? After 34 years?

Hi Gang!

Change of plans.
We (me and Gina) will be going to Istanbul!
Lost my job! So, we got the agenda free and I think we better enjoy the opportunity to be among friends before the money runs out and I start the big gear sale.

Arriving on the 11 and leaving on the 18.

Hope to see you guys and gals!

Really sorry to hear about your job, but it will be good to have you both in Istanbul...you've now made - at least - every EuroMeet I've been to.

Looking forward to it.

Errrm, that was a joke. It was fiction when it was made and it's old fiction now. Similarly, I doubt any member of RFF is seriously planning to get arrested on the visit to your very interesting country :)

I have a number of outstanding warrants against me and had assumed jail would be a cheap accommodation alternative. Should I make alternative arrangements?

This IS a joke.... until I get to the airport................
