ever done an 'in home' exhibition?

Why not just recruit a local friendly bar or tavern to serve as the venue?

They take care of serving beer / wine / drinks. You don't have to buy or serve anything.

You don't have to clean up before or afterwards.

You don't have to worry about people in your house.

Many can find the location easier than where you live.

You don't have to be host and can spend all your time mingling with the crowd.

This has worked for me and the bar owner was happy as well.

could do that too!

Im sure if it was an exhibition of bags you would have most of RFF lined up around the block.

But honestly i think its a great idea. Even if it just to share your work with your closes ten friends. Im sure there are a lot of people you know who would appreciate seeing your photography. And truth be known your minimalist approach to your place probably lends itself well to being a temporary gallery.

using my own place offers a feeling of intimacy that can't really be captured at a bar or coffee shop.
plus it's a good start for an old man...i'd be more comfortable.
it would be friends and acquaintances for the most part.

and...if no one shows up it would feel like any other day at home!!

I had one in my friends home to help me select images for a public show in the local library - had friends come to view the images(without me there) and record which ones they really liked. Was very helpful - good to get feedback and fun too
By the way Joe - I'm an old man too😀 So I'd encourage you to go for it - what have you to lose? More importantly what have you to gain?

i buy cheap black frames from ikea...the 'ribba', i think. they look ok...

i do have some nicer frames for the bigger prints from michaels, bought on sale.

I was in IKEA too. I checked it out but the ones I looked did not fit to my prints from my 35mm films. I will check that "ribba" one. Thanks.

I was part of an artists' collective for a number of years that holds "open studios" tours twice a year. For many of the artists in the group it is very successful, and it gets them a lot of publicity (these open studios days are announced to the public). I never did have an open studio out of my home because A: having been the victim of two burglaries, I don't want strangers in my home, period, and B: I was out of the loop of where most of the artists lived and worked, so I would probably have had minimal traffic to begin with. I prefer the idea of showing at a public venue (I've got a solo show I have to start printing and framing for coming in mid-July at a new hip-and-trendy restaurant/pub here in DC). But I'm actively trying to sell work and want a broader audience. If everyone coming are friends/guests of friends, I'd probably feel more comfortable about having a showing in my home.

You, Damaso, with all of your far-flung, prestigous global exhibitions, don't need to use your home the way us civilians do. And, we're all jealous, too.😀
You gotta hang some work in NYC sometime soon.

After my exhibition in Barcelona I put up about eight images around my apartment. I never considered it an exhibition but of course I always pointed out my work to my guests...

I always knew Bob Michaels is a genius.
