GASitis.. finally cured?
... for doing something you really did not want to do ?
So, 2.5 months back I decided to sell off my extra 100ft rolls (2 Foma 200 + 1 Arista EDU 400). The guy who was supposed to buy it requested that I spool it, and pass it on. I agreed to do it at no charge, if he provided the canisters. I took an advance amount of 1/3 of sale price, and spooled all the 60 rolls.
Now, it's been lying in the freezer for 1.5 months, and my better half decides she has had enough and moves it out. space for 60 rolls >> 3 cans of 100ft.
The guy who promised to take it off me is out of town, and is postponing collecting the rolls (he is also re-selling part of it at a price surely higher than what I am charging). He is asking me to ship it, which will cost me a bomb, plus the hassle of dealing with the courier companies.
The unsavory part is that I sent him an ultimatum today to pick up the rolls by Friday, or I will sell of the entire stock to the highest bidder, and return him the advance+cost of the canisters.
Reason: I need the money, the will film will go waste, and I really want someone to shoot it. BTW, I am charging exactly what I bought it for from freestyle (~1.2$/roll) which is steal in India for B&W film.
Now, I feel bad... :bang:

feel bad for what? Dude needs to pick up the film and not have you bug him about how he should pick up the film.

I sometimes feel bad in those situations (and then get angry because I'm feeling bad when the other person should be feeling bad not me), but really it isn't your fault at all. You're being the good guy and he is taking advantage. The ultimatum was a good idea.

Actually, I would have told him up front the 1/3 was nonrefundable (it seems to be the standard for most any contracting work -- like cabinets, cakes or wedding photography -- in the U.S.) When people put down nonrefundable deposits, that usually helps seal the deal
. But you said you'd give it back, which means you are nice (as opposed to a post-contract "screw you" attitude someone else might take).
Just remember it the next time you have a similar offer.
