I have come across this webpage completely by accident when I pasted the word "drahtauslöser" in the address window of my browser (instead of eBay) : www.drahtauslöser.com

So I found out that it is not jut a webpage about cable releases - it is actually a producer of them (full name is: Gebr. Schreck Feinmechanik). I quickly found out that their products are reasonably priced, so I will probably order a few soon.

As today a source of reasonable cable releases is not easy to locate and the market in Europe seems dominated by one or two producers, I thought this link might be of general interest. I can only warn that as of now I have no experience with this webpage - which is also in english.

so - just a drop to the sea of always needed accessories ... 😉

So I went ahead and ordered a few - I will let you know how they are in a few days.

The only payment option I was offered was PayPal

An yes - there is a typo in the title - it was supposed to read "heard" instead of just "hear" if mods are around I would be thankful for a correction ...

so - my new cable releases have just arived. All 3 works fine - the thinnest (cloth) release (THIS one) reminds the cloth releases from Hama. It is very soft a nd flexible - what makes it more prone to damage, I guess. The plastic covered release (THIS one) is more flexible than I expected - which is nice .It has the locking screw made out of plastic (it is visible on the webpage, but I did no realize it at first), but it works fine - the release moves smoothly. The very last one - covered with metal (THIS one) is very sturdy and butter smooth. The steel coating as a plastic coating on the top. I got the 25 cm version, but will order a longer one just to apply less strain on the camera when the release is bend, as it is truly strong 0 I believe it will last for a long time.

I would say that the plastic covered release is just there with the good balance of sturdiness and flexibility. You may choose the bell shaped one instead the T shaped to get a steel locking screw, but the plastic is fine too.
The steel one is really strong - I would advice not to get the shortest one (25 cm) if you need to bend it more than 90 degrees. The release has no problem, but if your camera is mounted on some light tripod you could induce some shake or movement.

so much to this breathtaking topic 😛
