I've been looking at some gear on Digitalrev.com and wondered what they're like to deal with - are they trust worthy?

Has anyone from the UK ever used them?

I bought both my Nikon 1 V1 from Digital rev (last summer).
A friend got a Canon 6D from them & his V1.
All delivered in less than a week. no customs.
All still fine, cant fault them.

However, I think Customs are getting sharper. The Nexus Tab I bought at Xmas from EGLOBAL DIGITAL STORE i got stung for the Duty & Vat (£55).
The courier at the time said about 30% of this type of delivery gets the Duty + Vat put on it. So you may be lucky & you may not!
No come back even though I got it through Paypal.
No joy from Paypal. Even though, on the Eglobal web site it said no duty/Vat etc etc.
Shame on Paypal, not as safe/secure as you may think!

I think you are best buying local to be honest.
I would hate to think what the after sales service is like from Hong Kong.
unless it is so cheap as to be a no brainer.......Like the V1`s
Buy my M8 instead? Listed in classifieds?

Thanks for the reply Clark.EE, I have read since that Digitalrev apparently will refund any import duties charged - I will need to check this directly with them.

It's worth remembering that a very large part of the price goes to HMRC and that, if they catch you fiddling, the camera will come very dear indeed! 😱

Another thing is that if you buy from a cheap supplier, within the EU, no duties apply. I tend to buy from Poland, as they are not much more expensive than Hong Kong. 😉

I bought my last 5D3 at a much reduced price (£1900), from a place with a warehouse in Sussex, but they were a HK based company and the cameras were grey imports but with the advantage that the cameras were already in the country, so no customs issues.
I tried to find them for you, but the website is down, they maybe ran into problems with customs.
The point being that ahead of the purchase I called Canon, and ultimately they would cover the camera for the first year with an international warrantee if you had no joy with the original retailer. The same as buying a camera abroad, as long as you have paperwork the UK arm should cover it.
I think the company I bought from was Procamerashop or some such, but they seem to be shut down now.

AFAIK Digital Rev fully covers that. The price on the website includes everything: product, shipment and possible customs.

I've bought X-E1 from them delivered to Switzerland and have had zero problems with it and no custom fees.

If you could find their name that would be great, thank you.

I'd be just as happy to but from Poland, perhaps you could post their name?

The last place I bought from was this chap, via eBay (handle: infoto2)...
