Agree about Kodak Pro Image 100. Pretty nice film and sometimes found with a good price.

Yes Kodsk pro image 100 gives very nice colours, remember having shot quite a lot with it in 2008. Problem is it's asa 100 and being my current outfit limited to 1/30 it's not good for low light situations. After several failed repairs I sent my Contax S2 to half retirement (just to shoot pics of my daughter in Foma 200) . Have to say now it's in tip top shape. And put into use an old zenit 122 to remember my early days of photography


My sources tell me we will have to wait until 2021 but colour plus will arrive earlier

There seems to be a global shortage of both Fuji C200 and Kodak Color Plus 200 everywhere.

Nothing new. We have that situation for more than a year now. Reason is that demand is surpassing production capacity significantly. The film resurgence is gaining further strengths.
And with Kodak Color Plus there is an additional issue: Due to official Kodak statements they cannot get enough raw materials on the global market to produce the volume the photographers demand.

Some of the websites consulted (Kosmofoto) stated that they got a reply from Fuji that "the film will be supplied sporadically and based on allocation, and sorry for the inconvenience".
Does this mean supplies (frozen master rolls) are drying up?

There are no "frozen master rolls", because film manufacturers generally never freeze the master rolls after coating.
This lie of remaining "frozen masterrolls" at Fujifilm was spread by JCH and some other unreliable sources and Fujifilm bashers. It has never been true. Fujifilm made clear in official statements at Photokina 2018 that they stay in film production business in the long term.

Possible. Fact is that demand has surpassed supply with certain film types, mostly color negative amateur films.

Any other supplier of good budget colour film?

Superia X-Tra 400: Even finer grained than C200, ColorPlus 200, Gold 200, Ultramax 400.
And sharper and higher resolving than ColorPlus, Gold 200 and Ultramax 400.
It is the "undiscovered treasure" on the CN film market. Mostly overlooked by the hipsters and influencers 😉.

My S2 had been faulty since 2002. Began to deliver unsharp (out of focus) pictures under F 5.6. Sent my 50 f 1.4 to Zeiss, cost a lot but continued the same.
Sent camera to "Spain's best repairer". 200 euro and the same result.
Sent camera to Kyocera Germany approved service in 2005. 260 euro. Same results: out of focus, a little less but learnt to live with that (never shooting under f 5.6).
thought I had forgotten to focus or my eyesight was not good, but with other cameras results were excellent (Contax Aria, Nikon FM2 and FM3a, Leica R6...)

Fast forward to 2015/oct. My exposure meter dies suddenly. Contact Kyocera. Tell me throw away camera as support was discontinued from... 2015. Contact former service centres "can do nothing due to lack of parts".
But... Peter from www.contax139.info and at that time he did a superb job. Repaired light meter (one corroded rivet in battery box) AND the out of focus issue (results that the mirror box was loose from the rest of camera body) the bolts were not tight enough. Problem solved and at a superb price
But the site seems no longer active

Seems it's time to unfreeze my frozen Agfa Vista 200 expired 2019 I put in the freezer when fresh until more supplies of c200 are available and restock then.

Yes, use your frozen stock first. AgfaPhoto Vista 200 was just rebranded Fujifilm C200.
C200 is Fujifilms most popular film. They are selling millions of it every year, and demand is strongly increasing. That is the reason why it is sold out in shops so often: Demand is surpassing production significantly.

This film was just rebranded Agfa Aviphot Chrome 200 film. And that was discontinued by Agfa many years ago.

Thanks. Same thing happened to an S2 I had. So much promise, but I found it a terrible camera in use. My Aria still works.

The Rollei Crossbird 135-36 rolls I recently purchased from Freestyle have an expiration date of 01/2024 on the box. These are the redesigned boxes with the new Rollei graphics. I was told over the phone by Freestyle that the film is produced in "batches", and when one run is out it's out of stock until the next batch is produced. I know the old Crossbird was leftover Agfa Aviphot Chrome 200, but the expiration date and what I was told by Freestyle leads me to believe it's fresh stock being produced for them.

There were side-by-side comparisons of 200 ISO color negative films somewhere online I remember seeing a couple of years back: AgfaPhoto Vista 200, Fuji C200, Kodak ColorPlus 200 and Kodak Gold 200, if I remember correctly. The AgfaPhoto version looked noticeably different than Fuji C200; much warmer. Posters then were remarking on the differences as well. Although there's no doubt Fuji did manufacture the film for them, it's been my experience that the AgfaPhoto version has a much warmer rendition than C200. I still have several rolls in my freezer.

I found a roll of PLUS X in back of frig this AM. I spooled it so I know it is real.

Should I try it?? Perhaps just for fun dog or someones cat.

I've been using Plus-X 135 from the final runs dated 10.2013 for some time. It's been stored in the freezer and with a touch of extended development, it produces images I quite enjoy.

I recommend you absolutely try it.

No, it is not fresh stock!
It cannot be fresh stock because the factory, in which this film (Agfa Aviphot Chrome 200) was produced, does not exist anymore for more than a decade (it was dismantled in 2006 / 2007). This film was produced in the German Agfa factory in Leverkusen, in the year 2005, the last production year of that factory. After production the film was then cold stored in the Agfa plant in Mortsel, Belgium. When this stock was depleted many years ago, Agfa-Gevaert (Belgium) officially discontinued it.

Maco photo products (the company who sells the Rollei branded films) simply has some leftover stock, which is now cut and spooled into cassettes by their film converting partner (Maco themself has no production capabilities at all; they are only a distribution company).
And the expiration date is just misleading marketing (as so often with Maco products). This film stock is expired for many many years, and you see it because of its strong colour shift.
