It just keeps going and going...
Is 35mm film being discontinued?
Anybody got a million dollars?

Are you referring to the overpriced stuff from 'arsenall' - those dorks from Nuremberg, that also sell new stuff (also way overpriced) under different Ebay names; they are really hated on all German photo-related forums, because they always clog up all Ebay listings with their stuff everytime Ebay does one of those 'no listing fee' specials; there is one guy who hates them so much that he listed stuff like lens-caps for 10000 Euros, etc. with text making fun of them...

This space left blank
I don't think Nikon would have bothered developing and introducing the F6 if they didn't think film had life left in it. For the casual snapshooter who only shoots a few pictures now and again and wants to share them on the web, the lower-end digital cameras probably make more sense than film when you factor in all the costs and convenience factors. Frankly, I myself shoot more digital than film and I consider myself fairly serious about photography, but this is more for the reason I don't have the space or the inclination to muck about in a darkroom. Maybe film will start to become more of a niche product, but as medium format didn't kill large format and 35mm didn't kill medium format, digital won't kill off 35mm. For some applications, film is still more appropriate.

Roman, i was also wondering about what those arsenall guys think of their stuff...
35mm film will be around long after I am gone. I need to get a chance to shoot it through Oscar's Canon P when he sends it to me for my 70th Birthday in 2027. And just to be a good sport, I'll load a new fresh roll into it. I still have some Kodachrome from 1957, but that would not be sporting.

I have to write that date down in my pda, do you think it will still work in 2027 ?

Ah. That explains it. I happened on Arsenal's Web site and emailed them, expressed interest in an item. 'Boris' eventually responded, letting me know it had been sold. I then asked how often the Web site is updated as I prefer not to waste time inquiring about things that are already sold. Still waiting for an answer to that one . . .
Thanks for the insight Roman!/ScottGee1

Just kidding about film becoming extinct. I was just suprised at the massive amount of overpriced listings from Arsenal.

Oscar, I'll put the date down on my Xerox 820-II that I bought in 1980. It still works, and it is more than half-way to 2027. Those CP/m machines just keep going, and going, and going. Don't know about your PDA, hopefully it will make it until my next Birthday.
