Has anyone tried the late Barry Thornton's Exactol Lux and, if so, to what effect. I'm particularly keen to know what it's like in night-time street photography. The tanning effect should help to keep highlights from street lamps, etc, under control and the developer, from what I know, seems to retain the film's nominal speed.

On the surface, it would appear to be ideal but I'm hoping a few others have tried it and can provide some feedback.

There's a little bit about it here: http://www.monochromephotography.com/exactol_lux.htm

I have used lots of it, but have not since BT's death. I switched to Pyrocat HD which is little more expensive than water and just as good in all but film speed.

Exactol lux gives almost full speed (I got 100 from fp4), very fine grain, superb acutance and great control of highlights, street lamps included. I would go for reduced agitation to assist further in highlight control.

Superb dev if expenisve. Still available thru peter hogan, right?
