Just got back my M9 repaired under warranty (just barely made the date). Had to replace circuit board due to camera locking up when trying to set the date. They replaced the vulcanite with new more grippy stuff (like it), calibrated the rangefinder, cleaned sensor and threw in a new battery. Nice. Very responsive customer service.

I have nothing but praise for Leica NJ service so far. About a year ago, I sent my 50mm 2.8 Elmar M for 8-bit coding. They cleaned and adjusted the lens without my having to ask, and included within the fee for the coding. Earlier this year, I sent my M9P because of sensor dirt which apparently was behind the cover glass (IR filter?) and therefore could not be cleaned without disassembly. They replaced the sensor under warranty, updated the firmware, and had the camera back to me within two weeks. Wonderful customer service as far as I'm concerned.

Let's hope we hear more stories about the (generally) excellent service, and fewer about the (very rare but very upsetting) poor service. I always go out of my way to praise good service with anyone, because complaining about poor service is much easier and comes much more naturally.

As do I. The best vulcanite yet.
