I saw in the Wall Street Journal today that there is an exhibit on modern photojournalism at the Getty under the title "Engaged Observers: Documentary Photography Since the Sixties". Photographs from Sebastião Salgado, James Nachtwey, Susan Meiselas, Mary Ellen Mark, Aileen M. Smith, Larry Towell and Lauren Greenfield and others are featured.

NOW you tell me.

I was just out in the LA area for a few weeks during July. Had I known about this, I would have gone there instead of touring the Gamble house, which will still be there next time I get out that way.

I just saw it yesterday. It was awesome! In addition to the photographers you mentioned above, there were also prints by Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, and a few other Magnum shooters. Nachtwey's prints were very emotional, as were Philip Jones Griffiths' Vietnam series (along with his battered M2 in a glass case). Amazing work.
