I participated in an outdoor exhibition of photography (with about 200 others, mostly amateurs too) in Dublin over the weekend and was very pleased to sell some prints.

This is an annual event ( People's Photography ) and the first time I have ever exhibited anything. I learnt a lot, plus the creative director of a brand agency wants to see some more work. Overall a great experience.
Below is my stand, needless to say most shots are fixed lens RF (mostly Olympus 35 SP, then XA, then Yashica Electro GTN), one from an Pentax ME Super SLR and two were taken with a low end digicam (before I had an RF!)

Congratulations!

It sure feels good to receive the external validation of selling your work.

I see B+W and colour prints at your stand. May I ask if they are inkjet or traditional wet prints? The next question is gauche/tacky and you can ignore it if you wish: how much were your or other photographers' framed prints selling for?

All the prints were printed at standard photo labs - some from a Fuji lab, but most from an Agfa lab (it's the nearest). They had just got a new machine and I was impressed with the B&W output (from C41 B&W film), they were printed on colour paper and there is no colour cast.
The cost of prints varied a great deal, some were priced at 450 euro, some at 10 euro. The higher priced ones were typically professional photographers and were well framed etc.
Typical prices asked seemed to be 45 euro mounted and 65 euro framed
Not many people were buying though as it's geared more towards exhibiting. Mine went for between 20 and 45 euro (unframed) the majority went for 25. Still, great learning experience.

BRILLIANT Nick!! 😀 I see a couple of familiar ones there, like the one of the front at Bray. 🙂

Where were they posted? Around St. Stephen's Green?

That is great Nick. May I ask, did you have model releases signed for the images with recognizable people in them? I actually don't even know if that is necessary, just wondering.

Congrats, Nick!
It's always nice to see that others appreciate one's photos...
It's even better when you actually see people are willing to pay for them 😉
Keep up the good work!

Denis

Sounds like a weekend well spent! As the kids around here say, "Cool Beans!"--which phrase is a positive vocalization for good news, etc.

Yep, around St. Stephen's Green! Good guess!

No, no model releases. My understanding is that they are not necessary for non-commercial use, plus I didn't sell any of the prints with recognisable people in them. I have another print which I really like, of a happy couple laughing, but decided not to include it as they were really recognisable.

And Terence - most of these shots are in my gallery already!

Kids who say that should be shot out of cannons. Cool beans, indeed.

The term is 'groovy'. Everybody knows that.

I actually have attempted to chase down just what "cool beans" means and the responses I get range from"well, ya know, it's jut, like, umm, 'good' is all." to "what the f#@# do you care, old man?" 🙄

Well Done Nick!

I'm keen to do something similar but I'm a bit clueless as to where to go, who to ask... Anyone with any suggestions for the London area very welcome.

Did you have to pay for your space?

Best,
Paula

Congratulations. From the picture posted of the display, I can see why the prints sold. Very nice.

Good luck on the follow-up, and post back on how it comes out.

My congratulations also 🙂 Looks like a nice place to exhibit and we're having just the weather at the moment as well 😉
