I have used the GUI version of ExifTool on Mac for some years, satisfactorily. It does do batch mode. Once the EXIF data is edited in the DNG/RAW files, then the editing program (LR for me) reads that info upon importing the files. So it doesn't "work with Lightroom" as such, same I'm sure for Aperture, as it's independent of the subsequent processing.

Minor Terminal note: if you open a new Terminal window and press the up-arrow key, it will display the last command you entered. Pressing up-arrow again steps you back through previous commands.
So as long as you're not using Terminal for anything else, you only need to type in exiftool settings once. After that, launch Terminal, press up-arrow, and there's your most recent exiftool command, ready for you to edit with your current settings.

GUI = Graphical User Interface... i.e. to be run in Windows (or similar) Operating Systems, rather than from the command line. (I'm hoping that's what your question was about! 😉)

In Windows . . . so will it work on a Mac, or is it for Microsoft?

It's also available for Mac, and Linux. I'd suggest having a look on the exiftool.org web site... plenty of information on there. The site can be a little "techy", but nevertheless it's fairly straightforward to locate and download the appropriate version of the program, to suit your Operating System. 🙂
