After going round and round try to decide on a bag for my small M6 kit, I settled on this leather messenger bag from Banana Republic:

It is made of very soft leather so it conforms to you body like a Domke, and doesn't look like a grade school teacher's Dooney & Bourke hand bag like the Billinghams. :p

My plan is to stitch some velcro into the lining of the bag so a padded insert will stay in place, but can be removed if I want to use the bag for non-camera duty. Looking at B&H, the Billingham inserts seem to be the right size, but I'm wondering how stiff they are. For those that have used them in the past, do the Billingham inserts really "move with the bag" like the company says? Or will the insert turn my bag into a stiff 'camera protection cube'?

Thanks!

My billingham inserts are not stiff at all. That's why I don't use them. I use Domke inserts which give much more stability.
