Anyone have experience with Nikon VR lenses on film bodies?
I just ordered a 24-120 VR f4 for my F6.
I had sworn off zooms after a horrible experience with the Nikon 28-105 lens on my F6 (lens totally sucked) but the reports I've read with this one are quite different, as well as the images that I have seen from it.
Does the VR suck the camera batteries dry in a hurry, or is there little change?
How effective is it?
Thanks!

I just started shooting the 70-300 VRII on my F100 for sports photography and am really happy with the results so far. No idea about drain on batteries, but I don't think it's going to be a problem.

I left VR off unless I needed it. Negligible battery draw, I never depleted a battery with or without. Now shooting Fuji, same impressions with their OIS -- with a much smaller battery.

Everyone laughs at the 28-300 VR lens for its distortions, but it works just fine on the F6. No battery issues.

The 24-120 came today. Factory refurbished via Adorama. It looks like new so I am very happy with that.
I thought there was a problem with the VR not working (I read someplace that when u turn it on, the lens makes a humming noise). But then when I read the online manual, on the F6 if you use the AF-On button it only activates with a half push of the shutter button.
It's crazy how well it works!
Excited to see how this pans out. I hated the 28-105 that I sold off a while back..
