Kip,

I have sent several FSU camera to Oleg in the past and they have come back in excellent shape. I sent him a Canon LTM and he fixed it back to proper specs, so i suppose he would work on Leicas as well.

I now sent my Leica repairs to Youxin Yee in Boston. His prices are very reasonable and the turn around time is usually about a week. By using Oleg you are talking 3 weeks or so to get the camera to him and return would be about the same time.

For only a few dollars more Youxin will fix and return you Leica in a really short time. I highly recommend him. If you want send me a PM and I will look up his e-mail address.

i was going to use youxin, but he said he had almost no parts at all for leica ltm and said he didn't know if what he could do would fix my camera

I bought a Fed from him that was supposed to have been CLA'd. The shutter had pin holes, so I sent it back (paid the postage again). It came back 2 mos later w/ a lens he threw in for free. That was great, but unfortunately his replacement shutter curtains also had pin holes in them, so at this point I gave up. I know others have had good experiences w/ him, but I didn't.

Oleg would be the last person I'd send my Leicas to, esp.
with Youxin in the picture now. He doesn't do as thorough
a job in his CLA work as Don or Sherry but as far as getting
you back up and running at a reasonable cost, he's the man.

It might be something simple, too, not requiring any parts.

If you want a master-level tech with the parts on hand to
fix anything and can handle the wait period in case he's busy,
Don is the way to go.

Geez, you'd think Oleg is on the verge of a comeback.

I honestly don't know how anyone could rave about his shutter curtains. His material is the worst I've ever seen and judging from the Zorki 3 that came up on eBay last year, he has a real problem getting curtains glued on straight at all. But, his cameras _apparently_ work alright so let's call him excellent, heck, even terrific. If so, by any stretch of the imagination he's turned himself around nicely.

Oleg resurected my IIIF and changed the curtains. He made an excellent job.And he also made a great job with my contax III.
