Thinking about purchasing a close up kit for my 7ii, basically are they any good? and are they easy to use? for example if I wanted to photograph a desk-top still life would this kit be the right tool to use? thanks in advance!
Experiences with a Mamiya 7 close-up kit anyone?

It's not too bad. As mentioned, it's a bit unwieldy, but optically it's excellent. The fixed-focus actually makes it easy to frame and shoot, although it doesn't offer a lot of flexibility.
It's designed to work with the 80mm, though I suspect it could also work with the 65mm too (you would likely need to remove the frame, as it would be in the picture).
Ultimately, an SLR (RZ67 is my personal choice) is better for close-up/macro/etc.

I've used a similar thing Fuji once sold for their GS series, to document sarcomas. Forget about it for still life, contraptions like that have (or had) their market in scientific documentation of flat surfaces, where you want a fixed magnification, perpendicular view and reference frame - which is often required when the pictures are to be input into planimetry systems (as common in medical, biological and archaeological research).

From your description, it sounds like an accessory Mamiya made for the Press series of cameras as well. Something like that was also available for use with Graflex and even Leica if my memory serves, and used by the US Army for photographing flat surfaces such as documents or finterprints on flat surfaces. As an aside, they also had an adapter for Graflex that was enclosed on the sides and camera end, and had lights inside for fingerprints.
