Exposing Eastman (Double-X) 5222 in the Leica

001 by Nokton48, on Flickr

I bought this new in the box, never used! It is sticky inside, sometimes it stops working. A light bang on the table and it starts working again.
Need to send it for an interior cleaning. I can shoot 250 exposures of XX in the Minolta SRM, and I have two SRM's. What I don't have is a 250 exposure processing reel. LOL.

Could not be happier to find a whole thread about my favorite stock!
Anyone else using XTOL? Ive been keeping it at EI 200 lately, but dipping into 160 here and there.
Usually 2/3 stock to water at about 24* & 5 min - 5.30 min.

Here's a few with my MP/50lux & my RF 2.8F. I clearly like flowers

Welcome to you from the OP! 🙂 Great XX work! Looks Cinematic.......

This thread has expanded and expanded! So about every developer known to Man has been documented here.

My summer films were XX for lower-ish light (when applicable) and Foma 100 for broad daylight. They genuinely complement each other quite well. These are with 5222:

Kodak XX 120 D23 1to1 Plaubel Makina Back by Nokton48, on Flickr

First rolls freshly developed Eastman Double-X XX 120 in Plaubel Makina 6.5x9cm Film Back. Plaubel Peco Junior View Camera 150mm F9 Apo Ronar with Broncolor C200 Octobox 150 Lighting. D23 1:1 JOBO Multitank 5 (six roll capacity) Unicolor Uniroller. 12 minutes at 68F. Beefy looking negatives as I am used to with 35mm XX. These will all be easy to print with the usually XX qualities but in the superior larger format. Bravo to the Creator of this! More coming I like this film. Olde 6.5x9cm Plaubel Makina 120 Back is playing nice too 🙂 Two at F22 and two at F16, to give myself a choice.

FOBA Baby FOBA.

Where can one purchase XX nowadays? I used to be able to buy 400 ft rolls a decade ago. I would like to buy 100 ft rolls if still available.
Kodak only sell it to a few resellers and “legitimate film makers” with a business plan and financial backing.

All the resellers sell as 135-36 cartridges, not bulk rolls. It’s more expensive than Tri-X.

I have complaints with Reflx over the years. Never had a bad roll, never takes more than a week to get to me.

Some randoms from a recent trip on 35mm

Try HERE.

Not cheap, about Tri-X price.
Looking more carefully at the listing, the film is from 1999...?

Reflx Lab has bulk rolls of film made in 2024-2025:

And 3-packs of 36-exp cassettes, spooled from film made in 2021:

No experience buying from them, but they seem like a legitimate company (based in Shenzhen, China). As they say, caveat emptor and all the usual disclaimers for big auction sites and internationally-based retailers.

My previous comment is pending approval, but it included the same link to Reflx. I have been buying them for a few years now and have had 0 issues. Their shipping is fast, no customs issues, and their QC has been fantastic.

Sorry, I did not read the complete listing carefully. It does mention that the film was manufactured in 1999! No way to buy it, especially at this price!

As for Reflx Lab, I did buy their 30-exp 5222 roll before. Quality is okay generally. No experience with their 100 ft bulk roll.
Price wise not too far from TX price.

Btw I managed to buy two 400ft bulk rolls 5222 early last year at about $350 each, so that will last me for quite a while.

To clarify- I meant I have “no complaints”. Can’t edit my original post.
