Exposure Pattern and AE lock button

Hi!

I´ve noiced that my epson can´t deal with backlight as my m6 does (not talking about media, analog v/s digital)
I think it can be due to exposure pattern. Epson has an horizontal line, white over gray, the m6 is a perfect white dot over black.

So i´ve been thinking if the exp pattern can be switched to a dot and if the AE lock button can be set directly from shutter one (in vertical compositions it´s very hard to use it)

I don't think such a modification is possible.

Painting the shutter in black with a white dot would be quite tricky (the paint would probably prevent the shutter blades from sliding properly). Once painted, you would have a much smaller bright surface measured by the light sensor, probably leading to severe overexposure.

As for transferring AE lock to the shutter button, it may be possible, but a lot of work. I repaired my R-D1 a few times, and the shutter button electronics seems to be buried quite deep in the camera, so shorting the AE lock circuit with its half-press sensor is probably quite difficult. It may also interfere with the wakeup system normally associated with shutter half-press.

Hi, thought it could be painted too, but as you say paint thickness would be a drama! Overexposure can`t be calculated in advance.
Guess won`t bother with ae lock button, i`m trying to make up some technique to press while in vertical composition.
