When I bought my first cameras, a Nikon Nikkormat FTn and then after that a Nikon FM2, I bought a 50mm lens, a 100 mm lens and a set of extension tubes. Affordable zoom lenes were poor in quality in those days and advanced macro lenses were few and totally out of range for my budget. However, as many others, I experimented with extension tubes to photograpgh insects, flowers and so on....

I have never seen any extension tubes for the Nikon Rangefinder cameras - what´s the reason for that ?? Was the extension tube not invented until after the rangefinder era or what´s the explanation !?

Also - with for example Yashica fixed lens rangefinder like the GSN and GTN models there are plenty of "close up add-on lenses" available - what´s the story on those type of accessories for Nikon RF´s?

Extension tubes for RF cameras, not really.

Close-up attachments, yes. Basically, inspired from the original Contameter for the Contax II and III. Consists of a peculiar close-up rangefinder fitted in the accessory shoe, or, later, of a twin lupe for both the composing and RF windows, plus a dedicated proxi lens that looked like a filter and which screwed in the standard 50mm lens front ring, to allow very close-up focus.

What you have at Leitz with the "goggles" for their dual-range Summicron 50/2, for instance.

Nikon made some originals close-up outfits for their different RF bodies, as well as third-parties brands did.

IIRC VinceC has such a third party close-up outfit, the "Pleasant Auto-Up" for the SP.

Nikon also made a 50/3.5 macro lens in Nikon-S mount.

Hope this helps.

OK, thanks for info....
I have never seen any of those "close up attachements" for sale here at RFF, nor the 50/3,5 macro lens so I guess they were never made in quality....

Thanks "nikonwebmaster" - I have too look out for those close-up sets, would be fun to try them out..... not exactly something that can match my 105 mm MICRO Nikkor 2,8 VR ED but it would be great fun to test it out...:)
