external viewfinder for isolette????

Has anyone used an accessory viewfinder for the agfa isolette? is their anything out there which will provide the correct field of view for it, yet provide a higher quality viewing experience?

Voigtlander made a Kontur finder for 6X6. I think Zeiss made a finder also, but I can't remember. They are likely to be expensive.

Sure. Remove the viewfinder that is on there, remove the base from a Certo rangefinder and use some epoxy putty to stick it on there. Paint the putty black. Works as a viewfinder and no more guessing at the distance.

Hi, Just a thought, have you tried using one of the Helios viewfinders that you can get for the Russian Rangefinders, I have just tried one on my Zeiss Ikonta 6x6 and it is definitely better than the pokey little viewfinder on that, it has the lines for 35, 85 and 135 lenses marked but you can ignore those, and with a bit of practise you should be able to get a decent idea of what will appear on the film. I got my two viewfinders from a camera shop in England, £6 each a couple of years ago and I have seen the same ones on Ebay varying in price from £8 to £20, give them a try. Regards Rob.

Yes, the front lid of the Helios is just glued on. You can remove the glue easily. Then you can cover the front glass with a piece of black paper or velvet paper cut to shape of your Isolette 6x6 viewfinder and then glue the front lid back on and bingo. If you look at the camera in my avatar, that's the Helios cut to 6x45 size.

I use a Voigtlander Kontur finder on my Perkeo: it is great. The Perkeo has a minute viewfinder in common with many of the contemporary 120 folders.
