External Viewfinder With Minolta 7sII

I just got a Hi-Matic 7sII however the brightlines in the viewfinder are almost invisible to the eye except for in certain light, is this a common problem with the camera or do you think my viewfinder is broken? Anyway I was thinking about getting an external viewfinder however I was wondering about the possibility of hyper focusing due to the fact that you cannot manually set the apeture? Has anyone done this, how do you all shoot with your 7sII

Not sure any problems with your viewfinder, but my 7SII works good on framelines. Ext viewfinder seems a good idea but how it works for focusing?
BTW, even such a good camera, am going to sell it.
