Hi guys

I like the fact the R-D1 has no ports on it, I think it's neat and quaint. However I just read somewhere about the Eye-fi wifi SD cards.

A couple of problems, though. I shoot Raw+Jpeg. I think only the 'pro' (newer) cards will send Raw files (and not sure about .ERF files...) but with the maximum capacity of the R-D1 being 2gb, I think these newer type cards are at least 4gb.

Has anyone got any experience/advice? I use Lightroom 3.

Cheers

Yupp, SD cards only. 2GB is the practical limit. I find it liberating. It forces me to download and post-process the pictures on a regular basis (this being a hobby), rather than having an even larger backlog of files to go over, which can be a bit of a chore.

You can still find SD-only (2GB) eye-fi cards but I wouldn't recommend them for the R-D1. No RAW support on those cards, plus the R-D1 has pretty poor battery life without adding WiFi to the mix.

I swear by Sandisk 2GB SD Plus USB cards in my R-D1 (with upgraded firmware). They are unfortunately discontinued but new old stock is sporadically available. (I've recently bought from this vendor http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003RXHB54/ for what it's worth.)
