Eye Piece on my IIIc Scratches my glasses

Does anyone have a source for some sort of rubber or cork item that would fit & stick to the eye piece on the LTM's? I have been using black electrical tape on my IIIc but its a bad way (looks sloppy and gets tacky) to protect my glasses. I have seen so many great ideas and resources on this forum that I thought I would have some success here. Gandy no longer has these according to his web site.

Hardware store remedies

I use small o-rings from an old-fashioned hardware store. Bring in the camera. You'll need to ask advice on glue to hold rubber to steel. Thin rubber washers or gasket material may also work.

An o-ring does hold the plastic surface of your eyeglass lens further away from the viewfinder, but the difference is not really all that bad.

I have used this solution with 5 or six different types of old cameras.

Have you tried contact lenses? I've found that daily disposables make life so much easier for me (even my Nikon FM3A lives to chew spectacle lenses), and the massively expanded field of view over my specs has improved my awareness of my surroundings tremendously.

I knew there would be some great ideas here! I have never been able to wear contacts ....I sure wish I could....well thanks again i like all these ideas a lot better than my electrical tape....

The eyepiece on my IIIf is plastic. 'heavystar' has similar new replacements. It looks like it will fit a IIIc.

I use liquid electrical tape. Available from almost any hardware store. I use a toothpick to put it on.

Now that is a great idea. I have got to try it on my Fed 2 and 5's.

Is the eyepiece the same on the IIIc and the IIIf? The "heavystar" seller notes that IIIf eyepieces are just for IIIf.......

The IIIc eyepiece is metal and the later IIIf pieces were plastic. Maybe that's why heavystar lists them as made for the IIIf. Here's a few quick snaps of the eyepiece on my IIIf. I'm pretty sure it's the factory original (I bought the body in 1969 in mint condition).

After all that, I should point out that the hard plastic eyepiece will also scratch plastic lensed glasses. I have used o-rings and liquid electrical tape on my M2 and M4-2. Now I cut a donut from self-stick foam sheets included in Jon Goodman's seal kit.

Where can one find the soft eyepiece glasses protector for M bodies. I've seen the links before but can't now find them.

I cut my own from a sheet of thin self-stick foam from the Jon Goodman seal kit. For the M ring, I used a subway token as a guide to cut the outside diameter and the barrel of a pen light type flashlight for the inside. Not as perfect as a factory die-cut item, but way cheaper. I think I have enough material for about a lifetime of protectors.
