well... my shade-tree CLA (i.e. pouring naphtha into the shutter) could not have been expected to hold for long... Just souped my first roll in Rodinal, and there are a few suspiciously blank frames.

It's not a big deal, I've just gotten my hands on a backup body, and it seems like the shutter acts fine under 1/500th, but when I'm good and ready, who should I send my beloved F3 out to for a good CLA?

De_Corday--assuming you are in the US--Jim McRae at Vermont camera works is excellent. Reasonable charges, excellent work and fairly fast turnaround. His website is vermontcamera.com
The F3 is a super camera--good luck with yours...

Sorry, should update my profile... I'm in the US, in NYC. I've heard good things about Vermont Camera before. Thank you for the recommendation, I'll give him a call.

You may have to resign yourself to buying a replacement - when I contacted Aztech Services (mentioned above) with a similar problem, I was advised that it would likely require a replacement shutter assembly, and that that would cost far more than just coughing up for another F3.

Thanks to your generosity I now have a fully functional backup F3. It'll probably become my main body.

Thing is, this one with the shutter issues has some sentimental attachment... it was my uncle's for many years while he was a professional. It may very well become a shelf-queen, but it's been fun using it.

I do have a half-cannibalized body in a box somewhere... anyone ever do a shutter swap on one of these? Every time I get the top covers off I freak out a bit about the sheer number of ribbon-cables...
