F6 arrrghhhhhh

I think getting a F6 these days is too extravagant. I have a D700 since I can't afford a D3. DLR produce a lot of photos, I'd rather go digital. For films, I am keeping Leica.

>Congrads!

Thanks, Kiu !!! When are you gonna get one?

I don't have a problem with the extravagance :D

In fact, I think the F6 is amazing value for $900 bucks.

Jon,

Congratulations. 2 F100 and my recent embracing of rf are the only things holding me back. But as you say, you can only hold out so long...

Good job! And here I was... so much at ease... so tranquil and calm...

Now, I too want an F6. This and an even more recent thread got me thinking about it.

Better not. Time to turn in. :)

Well, I finally gave in and purchased an F6 today. It's a fairly early s/n but its in excellent condition and was only $900! Resistance was futile :bang:

Congratulations!
I would have tried to complete my F collection too if not for my beloved F4 going into uncontrollable high-speed shooting mode when batteries are inserted, after sitting unused for 2 years! Jilted and disappointed. Arghh.....

Congrats and welcome to the club! Great camera....and for $900?!?!?!! That price makes me jealous, enjoy!

ps- I just got my "A" screen for mine, installing tomorrow to aid with manual focusing.

Ciao Jon
congratulations also from me ( I already saw your post, though ) and I hope you can get back the level of satisfaction you expect from a such elitary camera.

read from somewhere F6 has D2 electronics and that level of software built in. wonder if Nikon is doing any smaller upgrades to F6 while doing progress in digital arena. or perhaps just wishful thinking ?

I have an early S/N F6 and the big change was battery indication on the LCD. The firmware made the indicators more accurate somehow. I've never had an issue, but I usually us EN-EL4 batteries, so I have tremendous battery life (far more frames then film I'd carry for even extended shooting).

I still have to get my F6 to Melville to get the firmware upgraded, but just haven't bothered yet.

Ciao JCA
I never thought of EN-EL4 on F6 although I have the MB-40.
Is there any particular "gimmick" necessary to fit such batteries into the MB-40? I know that for D700 if you want to use EN-EL4E batteries you have to use also another small piece inside it (actually I don't remember the acronym)
