Faces to names

Not a self-portrait, but...

Not a self-portrait, but...

This is me as most of my friends end up seeing me - in dim light, with a camera stuck to my face! :D

Bill's OK. I think he has a particular frame of mind that's common in American men. There's an idealistic component to it, I'm almost there myself. I don't think there's much difference between him and me. The bigger gap in American politics involves our sweeping religious mania and one party's determination to deny the right of privacy.

OK

If Bill's comment is off base because of it's politics or flag waving or whatever, then why is the above comment appropriate?

This picture is special to me. It's one of the last couple of pictures my father took of me prior to his death in 1999. He was 88 when he took them. I had him take the shots one April Sunday in 1998 following church with my OM-1. It's a rather poor scan as the negative is quite sharp. I scanned it years ago on a low resolution scanner.

In some respects, I think they needed a reason to cut back on their RFF activity. You know how addictive it can be at times. :D

4-5 weeks of no internet (because I moved house and my ISP is slow to follow me) and I too was a bit tired of RFF. I just couldn't be bothered to read all the theads. I still can't, and won't. I've become much more selective in my reading. And lately I'm wasting tons of my time on work, and spending lots of it on my wife, my kid and the new house. I need to eat and sleep as well, so you can imagine that any cut-back on RFF is time gained. :)

Okay, I had a shot of myself wearing aviator glasses this the summer for my avatar. Currently my avatar is 'give me options' Here's a shot of myself taken by a friend on a trip to the Bonaventure River in La Belle Province de Quebec. Mes amis Laurent et Ben, c'est moi avec le chapeau blanc.

Excluding my cigar.

Hi Dave ... ah... not only I see you now, I can "smell" you too ... that explains. :D

OK. I am still new to RFF. But here's myself taking a break during reserve duty some years back ...

Cheers!

This reminds me of the situation with Roman several weeks ago. Both were very active on the forum until something set them off. :(
Um, huh? I thought Roman was just taking a hiatus to study for university. What happened? Can you point me out to the thread in question?

Attached is a photo Roman took of me shooting my Mamiya 6. The camera has since been sold to another RFF member.

Here I am when I was still shooting digital. It was taken last year, but not much has changed...I'm still ugly.

Dave

Dave, you are not ugly! You are just aesthetically challenged.
Like me.

R.J.

Yeah, true. SOmeone PLEASE piss me off with somethign so i can stay away for awhile! :)

No really, this is a place where I come to enjoy discussions. Therefore i try to avoid any of those which I would not enjoy. People should be less sensitive(sensible? whatever) and have more fun; that's what this is all about, right?

I just want everyone to know I had no ulterior motives withthe last photo I posted.
A- it happened to be on my desk
B- it was taken with my GSN
C- I had no idea any of this wstaking place
D- I had forgotten it was Veterans day

When I do portraits, I try to capture the character of the subject. Not so easy with self-portraits, torn with self-doubt about what I should really make myself look like. So this is pretty non-committal, I'm afraid ...

I already uploaded this photo in the toilet shot-thread, but since it's the only self portrait I have where my face isn't bleeding after dealing with otters or parked trucks I'll show it here too... ;)

Here is one of me. Doesn't happen often that I end up on the wrong side of the camera ;). This one was taken by my wife last winter.
