Hello.

I'm in dire need of technology facts, how many flat screens existed in 2000 compared to now etc. Stuff about how many mobile phones are in use, how many console sales per year etc. I have been hunting and reading reports like a fat pig in a barbecue and now need to rest.

In other words, I've found bugger all. Anyone have any ideas?

You're looking for market penetration studies and analysis. There are many industry groups and independent analysis groups that specialize in providing that kind of information, but they charge quite a bit for their services. Sometimes they will dribble a little data out to the press, which is where one gets "Five out of ten American homes has a cell phone with a camera in it now" headlines.

In other words, the information is available, but generally at a price. Some industrial groups provide raw data for free, such as CIPA.

Cheers for that, I managed to get in touch with some people and pretended to be a student so didn't have to pay. Got some crazy facts about Facebook etc. :)
