I had separation in the prism on the VF. Managed to find a Leica tech who swapped for a new unit.

Now it´s the RF patch that´s very dim. I can focus w/it but under some circumstances it becomes heroic. After looking thru a new M vf i know what i am missing.
It seems some people had it sorted out w/ CLA and cleaning. This camera was CLAed by DAG before I bought it 6 yrs ago. I assume he would have have done something about it if it could be done. The seller mentioned a dim RF patch but it was my first Leica, first RF camera so i didn´t know better. No blame on him.

There is a shop in England that does an exquisite job of reviving the patch by installing a new custom fabricated frame line grid. I would have to ship it across the ocean, thru customs.. not my favourite scenario.
Any opinions or experiences?
Yes.. i am working on a second M body.

It won´t work as well on a Leica since the frames move significantly while correcting for parallax.

I am not so optimistic about fixing my rf patch. Unless it goes to England.. and i don´t like fixing things out of the country. It´s always annoying.
Customs here where i live will try to charge it as an import.

I cpuld find a beam splitter/ prism for the viewfinder but fixing the patch involves replacing the entire rangefinder.

I will keep using it as it is and miss some pictures untill i find another M3 body.
