I'm looking to go back to shooting with an RF after I sold off my M2 for a Canon 5d. However, I found the SLR too much to lug around and have always loved shooting with an RF.
I'd go back to a film camera, but I don't really have as much time to go shooting as I'd like and tend to enjoy the digital workflow. So I'm just trying to get an idea what the going rate is for an R-D1 at the time.
Thanks in advance for any responses. Also I'd love to hear any tips for what to look for when purchasing.

There are two currently available in Singapore used camera houses: one at $SIN 2,100 (USD 1,650 approx) and the other at $1,800 (USD 1,420). I appreciate that you probably will not want to rush off to Singapore to acquire either, but it gives you a bench mark. I looked at them recently as I was looking for a back up for my M9.

You can probably get one in the classifieds at around $1100-1300, maybe a bit more. I paid $1300 for mine on KEH.com around 3 yrs ago.

The market these days is surprisingly solid.

1100-1300 seems to be the going rate, and has not moved much in around 18 months.

Thanks for all of the feedback everyone! I guess I'm going to have to keep my eyes out for an RD-1 in that price range.

prefer to buy from RFF or similar serious forums, or better from a shop which would offer a six-month to one year warranty. Avoid e-bay and those con ads with "private auction" or "no return", or "sold as is" mentions would be my advice...
good luck and welcome soon to the priviledged owners club !

Now I just have to keep my eye out for one to pop up and snag it up.

Aldobonnard, I check here and fredmiranda, are there any other forums you can recommend?

I know of www.summilux.net , you rather ought to speak french though...
I bought my R-D1 there. Posters are serious and commendable Leica aficionados, and references are asked for when selling stuff.

Unfortunately my French is extremely limited so I'm not sure how much good that site will be to me. Thanks for letting me know about it though.

I'm selling mine for $1200, I am just having a bit of a time finding the box for it. I know I have it somewhere. I'm the second owner and it has had very little use. I'll post it when I finally find the box.
