Hey everyone,
Im sure its been contested, but I was wondering what some fair price examples are for a Canonet Glll QL17. I have one in the classifieds at a fair (I thought) 90 bucks, wih extras in nice condition, lots of views no pms. Just thought Id see what some of you have paid for your Glll QL17s?? Thanks in advance!

I have two of them. They are my favourite fixed lens rangefinders, over my Yashica 35 GSN, Konica Auto S2, Canon Canonet QL19.

I paid $58.00 plus p&p for the first and £35.00 plus p&p for the other, both through RFF classifieds. I 've seen them go for more on the bay, it really depends on condition and extras.
 
what you pay and what they are worth are different things. I have bought excellent working ones for as little as 25 Bucks and as high as 70.00 for one with a D flash and canon lens hood.

I think I paid $30 for mine on eBay but it was pretty unusable when it arrived. Essex Camera charged about $70 for a complete CLA and it was more than worth it. So $100 altogether. Great little cam! :)
 
I got mine from flashover. I can't remember how much it was, but I'm thinking about 70 US dollars.
 
I think I sold a couple for around that price and traded one. Depends a lot on condition, function and if they need seals.
 
I paid $75 for mine at Peace Camera last summer. Thats with new light seals, case, Canolite D flash, and a 90 day warrenty. Great camera! Canolite D flash works great on a FED 5 btw.
 
I paid $32 for mine recently on the 'bay, this weekend I'm replacing the seals-- otherwise it's in great shape.

I can't remember the exact price, but I think around $40 or $50, and was CLA'd, seals good, used standard batteries, and took great photos.

If I were looking for another one, I'd check with Greyhoundman first.
 
I paid about $50 on Ebay about a year ago for one with a Canolite D, then sold the flash (since I already had a Canolite D) for about $15. So I guess I could say the the net cost was $35. It was advertised as "perfect", but in reality it needed new seals (which I was expecting and accomplished easily) and it has an issue with the focussing. At the infinity end, it feels "mushy" at the stop, instead solid. It takes excellent pictures, though. I think I would prefer to pay $90 here than repeat my $50 Ebay purchase because I would feel more comfortable the camera is "as described".

I've since bought a "backup" Canonet, non-GIII, for about $25 on Ebay. That camera is in slightly uglier cosmetic condition but is just as great to use...I think the non-GIII small Canonets are probably a better value these days for users.

Prices at my local used photo equipment dealer, Orlando Camera Exchange, vary widely based on customer attitude.

I'm really a nice guy to Greg, the owner, so my GIII QL17 was free. It needed foam.
 
I forgot the exact price I paid for the one I have, but it was around $40. Mine is a black version and came with the original lens shade, canon flash, some filters and a GE light meter.

The most I ever paid was $15. I did sell that black one for $100 though... :eek:

I think I paid about $90... It was an early ebay purchase of mine, but came fully guaranteed from a reputable seller & is just about as perfect as one could hope. Never had a problem, so it has been worth every penny.

I recently paid $15 at a local thrift store, but it needed the light seals replaced and the battery compartment cleaned with a q-tip and some vinegar. The first roll turned out great.
 
Camera plus flash, $8 at a thrift store. A friend, whose boyfriend often scores great deals, told me once "How come I never find those deals", and I told her "Because you don't stop at every thrift store you know, every week, on the day they get the new stuff in." If you've got a wide range of interests, there are deals to find: I keep an eye open for any of the 70s rangefinders or SLRs, when manual focus and exposure were still standard. I've got nothing against electronic cameras, but the more a camera depends on electronics, the more a thrift store purchase is likely to be DOA and unrepairable at a sane price.
 
Well, nothing yet. I'm still looking for one in good condition. ;)

I've been selling EX+ Canonet QL17 GIII's with replaced seals, cleaned/calibrated VF/RF, flood-cleaned shutters, and tested with film for $75 on Ebay. I put a BIN on them, and they get "snapped" up. I can't see putting them up for more than that- unless they are black finish.
