dear all,

currently i think about selling some of my lenses (in order to buy another one, of course). beside my collapsible black elmar-M 2,8/50mm, the 21mm elmarit (with 60mm filter thread) is a candidate.

what do you think is a reasonable, fair price for that?

need to take into account that it is quite worn and even shows a defect in the coating of the front lens front surface, and some quite tiny ones on the surface of the rear lens. these defects have never been visible in the results!
(but since i have no other one to compare to, it's quite hard to tell this with certainty.)
mechanically it feels very smooth, though the blackness of the metal vanishes at the edges, and here and there you can find little dents.

any ideas?

thanks for your contributions,
sebastian

ps: will put pics of it online as soon as possible

I recently picked up a 4th version 28 Elmarit for $600, roughly half the going price, which was "mint" save for a tiny (3/16" maybe) faint scratch in the front coating. I don't know which will degrade the image more, a filter or a scratch, but I sure can say for certain which one will degrade the price the most. Great if you're on the buying end as I was, bad if you're on the selling end. With scratches on the front and rear elements (the rear is said to be a worse place for scratches, from what I've read), you might be better off holding on to the lens. At least put a reserve on it if you use ebay, so you don't end up selling it for a truly lowball price.

noted.

btw: no scratches!

just in case the obtainable price is too low, i'll definitively keep it - is has worked quite nicely for me.

btw, the pic

was taken with it.. (not a picture where quality degradations become easily visible, i must confess)

half the going price ... is in the 700,-€ range, right?

cheers,
sebastian

I suggest u shot some pics of the lens itself and let us see how worn it is. Pic tells more than words some time.
