You know how you go to a seafood restaurant for lobster and the price on the menu says "seasonal"? Well, sky's the limit.

I don't have either of those but when I got my M9, since all my Leica lenses were in storage and too far away to get to, I purchased 4 used lenses and I am glad I got them when I did as I got them right before they started going up. The 35 ASPH is twice what I paid for mine in LN condition and the rest have all gone up a surprising amount. At least I hit it right for once, though the same for the 200L f2 as it has gone up quite a bit, which started right after I bought mine.

"Fair" is a very elastic term, it depends on the condition, what is included, how many owner before, warranty included, and very important where the lenses shall be sold / bought. The regional availability and therefore price level varies significantly when comparing the US market with Europe or Asia or Japan.

In good and usual "normal-used" condition the two lenses together would easily scratch the 10k USD level I would say ...

About 6 years ago the neighborhood camera store here was closing shop and they had a nice f/1 Noctilux (albeit the one with separate hood) for $1600 (which I didn't buy). Four years ago I sold my 35 Lux ASPH on ebay and was happy to get back the $1700 I paid for it. I don't regret either on a photographic basis, because I never wanted a Noctilux and disliked the 35 Lux ASPH because for me the reason I use Leica is for lenses as small as possible, and at the time it was still the case that one shouldn't look at Leica as an investment. Whatever the reason for the upswing in prices, the upshot is they are now far beyond what I consider worthwhile value no matter how "superior" Leica glass may be. If I had no Leica lenses at all and was just starting out, I would either be looking only at Voitlander or Zeiss (or maybe some used Leica)--or foregoing buying into Leica at all. I do wonder how many others are being turned off Leica as a result of the horrendous skyrocketing prices (especially in economic times like these).
