Fake or real? Help!

IN WW II there were only 'stepper' IIIc, however this is a 'flat top' with a high serial, therefore: a real Leica (IIIc's were not copied), but not a real Luftwaffen camera.

In the shots that the original poster added, the step is perfectly visible. In the later posted picture is a 1947-issued camera (and is mentioned to be a 1947 model too) and it is a flat-top.

It pays to read the whole thread before posting an opinion...

A bit late to the dance here, but I looked it up in Jim Lager's 'Wehrmacht Leica' book, and serial number 385743 was delivered to Berlin on 11/8/44, shipment number 13082 (it looks like there were 161 cameras delivered in this shipment).

This refers only to the camera body, BTW.

This camera falls within a known Luftwaffe shipment, BUT and here`s the BIG BUT!!
The base plate is from a very late export IIIC or early IIIF, that`s not a good sign, just stating while there could be MORE changed inside the camera as well, it seems to be a Luftwaffen camera, but it`s not as valuable as a camera with all it`s original parts and matching engaraved lens.

Nonetheless you still have a kool camera there!

Enjoy it!
