I couldn't help but jump in on this one at the one minute mark, but I figured anyone who put that much work into it should have it on display somewhere..like on my shelf.

Still, I was reluctant to get in on the action even at the level I did, but I wanted to see how high the auto-bidder had gone, and left enough time for others to have a chance.

private top bidder and 100% action with just that seller? Yeah, you did ok cuz that ass was shill bidding it up.
While I never found the top (and seriously, was hoping I'd get outbid), someone else jumped in at the last moment with a winner. So the one who had the large opening bid did not get it. But the winner had to bid at least $200 in my estimation. Way too much for a modified Zorki or FED.

At least the shipping was free.

Hi,

I often wonder why they don't turn out black FEDs or Zorkis, it would save a lot of work and money for us. Better still get Oleg to service them first and sell them "as almost new" and so on...

its a good looking fed from afar. But up close its pretty cringey. They didn't do a great job with the white inlay on any of the engraving..

About 15 years ago I sold a pair of cufflinks styled like Leica 111 series cameras for $125 to some Japanese bidder. I had expected them to go for $15 to $20 and was shocked that they bid up so high.

That is kind of like the inlay looks on my Leica II, except it is too white.

I've not heard much about them, may have even bought from them a couple of years ago. Even though they put the "Leica copy" in their description, it still leads off as a Leica IIIF Swedish Army type. And now they are reselling a camera that sold just a couple of evenings ago? I'm starting to think that last bid came from them, because it should take longer than that for the winning bidder to decline.

They seem to have two eBay accounts, the normal National Camera Exchange account, and this National Camera Exchange Collectibles account. I have bought at least two cameras, possibly three, from their normal account this year, both as BIN, and would happily do so again; but I have seen this kind of sold/relist/resell kind of activity on their auction listings before.

The black dull/milky-ish tone(i don't know the correct word for it) looks like that it was painted directed on chrome. I have seen such a FED-2 with similar tone.

If still in doubt check shutter speed dial.

I'm surprised what seller like this is pushing over-priced and trashed camera, lens like this.

Well, like they said, there is a market for these things. I wouldn't mind having it just for the sake of being to show someone else how it was faked, and because it does look cool from a distance. But I'm certainly not paying $299 for the privilege.
