it's my normal saturday morning routine (except for sleeping in) with driving across town to meet friends for breakfast, walking about shooting photos and then heading to the farmers' market for more shooting.
thought i'd start with the 28/1.9 as i was feeling guilty for getting it and then ignoring it. in my defense i got it in close proximity to the the 35/1.2 and the 50/1.1.
did a little street shooting with it and then some indoor shots at the market.
after a bit i changed to the fast 50...and damn...does that lens ever feel so good in my hands, like a perfect fit!! like it was made for me...which continues to surprise me as i have for a long time preferred the smaller, slower lenses for their fit and feel in my hand...and also for the lack of notice they facilitate when i am out and about.
i swear folks are staring at the 1.1...
now i need to actually look at the shots and start some pp before i post any (hopefully there will be some to post).
and that poor 35/1.2...the lens that i have longed for the longest get no lovin' at all...

It's all about speed.
Does look like a nice lens. I look forward to seeing the photo's. I see one in my future.
First to sell some lenses, to make some room...

one of my oldest friends...in many ways.
i'm having a hard time with focussing this thing. i would think it's the gear but some shots are right on which leads me to being the culprit.

Joe,
Any particular reason you chose the older 28mm f/1.9 Ultron over the later M mount version with f/2.0?
Cheers,

Cheers,
i blame it on ferider...
he offered me a good deal on one plus i didn't want to hassle with the supposed focus shift b.s. issues of the f2.
i had one before and liked it also.

Time to buy back the C-Biogon?
Great portrait. Love the first one, too.

it's not the 35...it's just that i really like the feel of the 50.
the 28 and the 35, while larger than many rf lenses are so small compared to the 50...seems i like a handfull...
maybe i should head for tomorrow's shoot with just the 40 rollei.:bang:
thanks btw.

Beautiful stuff, Joe, I don't know which is happier, you or the lens. I'm sure it appreciates being in your hands so it can produce work like that.

Joe,
I know the feeling... after avoiding the 50/1.1 for so long... it has been welded to the M5 for the past week and the only lens I am using. The one really endearing quality of the Nokton 50/1.1 is that it is almost impossible to make it flare. Which is a big deal for me in a RF lens because you are not viewing through the lens like an SLR where you can manage the flare for each scene.
I am thinking of investing in a filter set... so it looks like the Nokton 50/1.1 will be with me for a long time.

thank you ducky, very kind words...
lynn, i guess i should be pleased that i am so happy with this lens but i do hope i get over the infatuation stage soon and can start using my other gear.
this lens was meant for the low (no) light of a canadian northern winter.
i think i also like the challenge of using a lens where i'm not even/ever sure the damn thing is in focus...kinda crazy!

sorry , but i tell you that i got the 1.1 Voigtlaender for a while and must say, that its to difficult for me to focus . The problem is : if you have the lens, you will shot wide open, so that its to often wrong focus.
The second thing for me that the lens did very soft pictures, so i dicided to sell the lens. Ive got a Zeiss Planar 2.0 Nice lens and small, too
In my opinion the zeiss planar or sonnar series with 1,5 or 2.0 ar better to use. ( Mostly i take pictures with my R-D1 )

michael, i discovered that one of my rd1 bodies did not focus the big 50 very well but the other one is great.
i have sent the offending body off for an adjustment.
