Fast 50mm on Sony a7 and a7r

That Hexanon limited is a special rendering lens Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for posting everyone.
One thing I seem to notice maybe others could comment.
The output from the sony seems to have a very hard (or high rather) black pointer is this the general preference with this camera?
It looks like some images in this thread have been corrected for this.
I've noticed it in many A7 images. Almost like a dark cellophane film over the images.

Are folks needing to lower the black point/levels in images on a regular basis?

I know I sometimes end up lowering the blacks (meaning I move the slider in LR to the negative to make the blacks more intense) in some situations ( like above) to increase the contrast. But I don't see it as much different from my other cameras. If anything I believe there are less clipped blacks and whites due to the higher DR than my old cams - like the M9/M8, for example. But I haven't studied it - I just adjust to taste and there it is...

Picked up the A7 last night. Here is a quick couple with the M-Hexanon 50mm f/1.2 & Voigtlander Close Focus Adapter (thank you Stephen..I like it.. very high quality!)

Here is the FE 55mm f/1.8 @1.8 Much sharper...easier to use..but not the same... sorry about the informal dress, but I'm grabbing my kids as they run by...

Thanks Andy for starting this thread.. I would like to add two 50s to the list to c if anyone has tried it.

I have three fast lenses.. The vc 40f1.4, Godfrey already confirmed in another thread is not good in the corners.. But the other two, I can't remember if anyone has mentioned about..
- Canon ltm 50f1.2
- Konica slr 57f1.2
I suspect the 57 should be fine since it is an slr lens, but not sure about the Canon.....

Thanks
Gary

Another portrait.. this time using the Zeiss C-Sonnar wide open - colour too because I really like the way her eyes popped - and even better because I didn't PS it other than cropping.

More of the Hex Limited F1.2 with the Sony A7

Really love these great shots, thanks! Is that on a regular A7? Gives me hope, as I've had to sell my Leica bodies because of my eyesight but have kept my Hexanon Limited f/1.2, hoping to use it on a Sony...

Best wishes, Nick

Really liked this one, too... wish I could get such great shots without PP!

All the best, Nick

Those shots were with an A7r actually. I think the A7 and the Hex Limited would be a great combination.

I'm going to add a few shots using the Sony A7S + Mitakon 50mm f/.95. A photo equipment rental business here in Honolulu invited me to demo their Sony A7S (I'm an A7R owner) and their copy of the Mitakon 50mm f/.95. Talk about a killer low light combo! I was able to use the two at night to shoot with shutter speeds I'd normally expect under daytime conditions, and with very little noise to boot! Most of the images below were shot at ISO 3200+ and used shutter speeds >1/200. It was a sweet combo, although a tad impractical for my needs at 12MP.

Last one, taken at ISO 409,600. 409,600 at f/.95 was overexposing at 1/8000 in the streetlight, so I had to find a dark garage just to take a test shot. CRAZY. It isn't very good, but it isn't all that bad all things considered:
