Fastening diopter lens on viewfinder

Today I received Ricoh XR diopter adjuster, as written on small box. It slides on VF eyepiece and keeps in place only by friction (no lock, no springs like in hot shoe). I imagine it can fall off accidentally. More so, it fits also Yashica AF cameras which normally use Contax FL type diopter correction, but is loose a bit so I fear it could really find it's way...away. As this thing were really hard to find I do not want to loose it...hehe.

I imagine I could use small strips of electricians tape...or paper, to seat diopter on eyepiece more firmly. Had I only one camera I'd fasten it with a bit of nail polish.

I'm pretty sure I'm not first one who is using diopter correction, so there should already be some wisdom, right?

I have a camera which has a rubber eyepiece surround that is inclined to come off. I use some paper-thin double sided tape. It came in a large roll (3M brand?) from the hardware store. This may not work in your situation but its worth considering. The tape is strong but not permanent and can be removed if needed - its just like the stuff camera accessory manufacturers use to stick glass LCD protectors on to the LCD screen of digital cameras.

Thanks, Peter! I haven't considered two sided tape, but that would work when set in grooves.
