fastening screw for 36mm filters...

... I got a SOOGZ adapter to mount 39 mm filters onto 36 mm lenses. Unfortunately the screw head is broken off. I would like to replace it with one of a 36mm clamp filter. Anybody knows how to get these out of the thread without breaking the screwhead off?

Last time I needed to do that - to fit a filter with a missing screw - I just unscrewed it all the way. There was a bit of resistance but then it just came out. Sorry I can't accept liability if your experience is different but that was mine. The screw went back into its original filter with no difficulty.

You may need to remove the inner ring, drive the screw all the way in, and file or grind a bit of the end off. They deform the end some to damage the threads to make the screw captive.

John, thanks. Removing the inner clamp ring and driving the broken screw of the SOOGZ all the way through worked to remove it. Replacing it with the fastening screw from an old yellow filter was a lot easier, because this one could relatively easily be unscrewed from the filter.
I now have a working SOOGZ adapter again. 🙂
