I have a 65mm for my Mamiya 7 (around 32.5mm angle of view on a 35mm SLR) and I love it. I also love my 35mm f2 Nikkor on the front of any one of my F-series bodies.
I've been preferring 50mm and 50mm equivalent across formats (dx digital or 120mm). Never like'd the 35mm fov but it looks like i'am one of the rare ones
35mm for me, but if the environment is right, I also appreciate a good 28mm. I don't mind 50mm, occasionally for photos taken from a distance or that lack people, but I generally find it too compressed in for my tastes.
I'll have to politely ask permission to change my vote from 40mm to 50mm. I thought at the time that I could live with the "tweener" lens. The 50 is simply my most used and favorite focal length "in-a final analysis".
Odd man out. I never liked a 50 at all though I have a f1.2 that I use occasionally. I do have a 20 2.8 I like a lot and my baby is a Samyang 85 1.4 but for me the lens that is my favorite because it's the lens I've made the most money with and is ever faithful is my 70/200VR. Next is my 28/70.
