Favorite online gallery options?

What are people using and liking a lot these days? Flickr? 500px? A wordpress plugin?

I have a project I'm working on with a few friends and would like to build an online gallery that anyone can see but only a few designated people can contribute to, wondering what people are finding useful for this kind of thing these days...

Flickr, too. I have a 500px account which I rarely use: it seems to be much more about telephoto wildlife photography, and majestic color landscapes.

Edit: Simply writing this made me delete my 500px account.

I have used photobucket and webshots before. I found tagging photos in photobucket tiresome and I wish I could download a faster standalone program to upload, sort and tag photos. I want to upload pics at around 1000x700 and have a lot of thumbnails on the gallery page.
