Favorite Portrait camera and lens combo***

It has always been my 100mm f2 Canon on a Canon body, currently the 5D. I am really pushing myself to start using the CV 90 on my M6 though now. I shot some of my grandfather a few weekends ago. I am going to get the film processed tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have some good stuff.

Favorite gear for portraits... Tough because it could be multiple systems and multiple formats, but if nailed down to one, I guess what comes to mind is the Bronica RF645 and 65mm normal lens.

Any Nikon Body with my 85mm 1.8 (flower girls)

though I use my Sigma 30mm 1.4 alot for portraits (as shown in the cold weather portrait)

Nikon F with 105mm f2.5 Nikkor.

Pentax 6x7 with either 105/2.4 or 165/2.8, with a small extension tube for close up if needed. Absolutely buries anything else I've used

My best portraits were done with these cameras:

35mm:

Pentax Spotmatic: 105/2.8, 135/2.5 (both Super Takumars)

Medium Format:

Kowa Six with 85/2.8 (remarkable lens, but when the shutter releases, birds a block away take flight)
Rolleiflex 2.8E Xenotar with Maxwell screen. (Killer lens and shutter release quiet as an M3 or a GSN).

I have never tried portraits with a 35mm RF camera. But now that I've got a Canon 50/1.8 it's a thought.

Canon 85/1.8, either FD or EOS. Small, light, inexpensive, sharp; nice shallow DOF @1.8
