I just acquired a FED 1. Based on what I can find on the net, the serial number, 230779, maps to a production date in the early 1950's. The camera came with a FED lens with the old style f-stops (3.5, 4.5, 6.3...18). As close as I can measure the film to flange distance is the standard 28.8. The negatives from the first roll came out perfectly focused so the lens appears to match the camera.

For my second test roll I was going to try to shoot with a Jupiter 3 to see if it would focus properly. When I tried to mount the Jupiter, however, I got resistance after about half a turn. Given the vintage of this camera, is it possible that the thread pitch on the flange is not the same as my later FEDs and Zorkiis?
