Another of my interesting shopping finds today was a little FED/1948/Zorki. I just sold my old Zorki 1 on ebay, and was looking for something to replace it, I was surprised to find this little camera.
It is in good condition, other than ratty shutter curtains (which I will replace soon). An interesting feature is that the camera has a 1/1000 top shutter speed. Shutter speeds seem accurate, and the camera operates smoothly.
Anyone here have a clue as to what this camera is worth? The only one I found on ebay was rather ridiculously priced, I would imagine the "street" value to be lower.

It depends. The FED-Zorki is the predecessor of the Zorki, a FED-1 made in Krasnogorsk in 1948. There used to be quite some collectors demand, which seems to have ebbed down a bit. As a result of past demand, though, there are a lot of fake FED-Zorkis around, see Guido Studer's page. One would have to take a look at yours to see if it's genuine.

It looks genuine, it has all the features, plus the 1/1000th top shutter speed, which isn' common in standard Zorki/FED cameras.

Out of interest, I think all the early FEDs had the possibility of 1000th, the selector hole is present. A few minutes with a file on the arm would allow it to become selectable. Setting the shutter up so it worked properly might be another matter though! It looks genuine, it has all the features, plus the 1/1000th top shutter speed, which isn' common in standard Zorki/FED cameras.
