A very quick question,

The latter D series Fed-2s have a raised shoe and can actually mount the typical FSU 35mm viewfinder.

The question is, does the finder base (foot) in this case stick out at all? The shoe seems small for its base, if I recall correctly it is a tight fit on a Zorki.

I hope it made sense, just looking for a finder for a Fed-2.

If you mean does it hang off the back of the shoe, the answer is yes - by 3-4mm. The foot is bigger than most cold-shoes. It hangs off on most FEDs and Zorkis, seems to fit fully on a Kiev though.

Thanks for that, appreciate it.

It looks as the viewfinder fits well only on Zorkis and not all of them for that matter. Seems to be OK with 4s & 5/6s.

Reason I dislike this is a nasty cut I received from mine when it slid off my Z4K, I have the variety with the metal foot that is sharp as a knife. Last thing I want is this sticking out like that all the time.

Again, thank you very much.

I agree that the accessory shoe on the FED 2 is a bit shallow. I have two FED 2s, one old one with the lower shoe position, and a later one where it is raised. The FSU finder fits on both and does protrude about 3mm as said above, but more worrisome, it tends to fall off. Some tape is called for on the base of the finder for these cameras.

Cheers,
Dez
