Fed 2 Diopter Adjustment Problem

I received my Fed 2d (from Sergey566) yesterday. It's in excellent condition and seems to work correctly except for one not-so-minor detail: the inner viewfinder lens is missing. 😱 I removed the top cover to look around for it; it's nowhere to be found. The external VF lens seems to really miss its counterpart--it's nearly opaque with grief 😛

I emailed Sergey about it and haven't heard back yet. I'd prefer to not incur all the shipping and waiting if there are other remedies. So my questions are:

1. Anybody got a parts camera with an intact sliding diopter lens? Maybe we can work something out. Or, anybody know what specs a replacement lens would need to have?

2. By removing the outer lens I can operate the camera pretty well. What am I missing out on?

A tangential but possibly portentious question: On bulb shutter, the curtain closes more slowly than it opens. Seems like it'd affect the exposure. Is that normal?

Just an update for the searchable archives: Sergey (Sergey566) replied pretty quickly, and is sending a replacement inner lens. I'll update this thread when it arrives--hopefully you'll still remember not to click on the thread again 🙂

...and the replacement did arrive. Yay! I was getting used to just using the empty hole, but I think this will be better. Anyway, just an update in case a search turns it up, to be fair to the seller.
